About GenX
I am a 20s something Christian who resides on the eastern coast of the United States. I have a love for cultures, and an immense curiosity on the subject of history and how it effects our lives.
I was raised in a family where on one side the love of God resided in the hearts of every member, and on the other side — a family engrossed in the unwavering traditions of our Native American heritage and culture.
For the first few decades of my life I remained lukewarm to my family, God, and life in general. To be frank… I was living a life unworthy of God’s mercy, love, and grace. Though my back remained turned towards God, God’s eyes and heart remained steadfast towards me.
In a nutshell… for years, I straddled the line that polarized my family, and I walked a path that was undefining and “safe.” My true journey begun, when I finally chose a side.
A few things you should know:
- I LOVE the fact that I was born in a time where our society believes that those dubbed “Generation X” are all a bunch of “lazy, no good punks.” Why? Because, I like the idea of going against the grain, stopping the flow, and being a model for what a typical GenX kid CAN look like. I’m not about stereotypes, I’m all about being shiney. (Stick around for a while, periodically read the blog, and you’ll get what I mean by that).
- I will NEVER force my faith or beliefs on anyone. I have a hard time understanding why so many seem to think this is effective. In my opinion, it’s not. But with that said…
- I will NOT apologize for my faith and belief in God. I respect everyone’s viewpoints, even when I may not agree, but as for me… I have been born into and have chosen a path in which I believe is the true way to salvation.
- I will not argue with anyone over God, Christ, the Bible, etc. This blog is not here to inflame the senses. But to simply blog about my day to day life, which is engulfed by my faith, the struggle with maintaining my “moral compass,” and all the other zany and curious things that happen around me. Besides all that, I sucked at debate in high school, so I’ll leave that to someone else
- And lastly, to make things absolutely clear…. I believe 100% that there is only ONE God. I believe in God, who created everyone and everything; I believe in Jesus Christ, who suffered and died for our sins, so that we may have eternal life; and I believe in the Holy Spirit, who completes the Holy trinity and who is the Giver and Sustainer of life.
I’m not perfect, guys… far from it actually. I’m a black Native American who desires to live true to my beliefs, but struggles every day trying to do just that. But, I know what I want to be, and I know who I am in Christ. I will always do my best to answer questions and talk to those that are curious about God, faith, or anything else for that matter. And, if I don’t know something… I’ll find out and get back to you.
